Despite being diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and Dyslexia, Kara’s artistic gifts helped her overcome challenges and break through societal expectations. Her creativity flourished at the University of Texas – San Antonio, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and sculpture.
Kara’s voice, often compared to iconic artists like Cher, Pat Benatar, and Stevie Nicks, has captivated audiences in sold-out venues such as the Tobin Center and The Majestic Theatre. Her contributions to the San Antonio music scene have earned her accolades, including Singer & Entertainer of the Year from San Antonio Monthly Magazine and the title of Renaissance Woman from San Antonio Scene Magazine.
A defining chapter in Kara’s career was her collaboration with Grammy and Oscar-winning producer Chet Himes. His advice, “Sing it to me the way I feel it, Darlin’,” inspired Kara to delve deep into the emotional core of her music, a passion evident in her original song, This Time Around. Today, she brings this same emotional depth to her intimate concert venue, Records on the Wall, which she built to create a unique listening experience.
Kara is now poised for the next chapter of her musical journey. Selected by legendary songwriter and producer Steve Dorff to join his esteemed group of recording artists, she will soon begin work in Nashville, TN. Kara’s collaboration with Dorff, whose catalog includes hits for legends like Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, and Blake Shelton, promises a series of unforgettable releases by year’s end.
